Portsmouth Shorter Novel Award Winner visit to Year 5

Year 5 were visited by author Benjamin Hulme-Cross on Tuesday 29th June because he was the winner of the Portsmouth Shorter Novel Awards with his winning book 'The Viking's Revenge' which is part of his Warrior Heroes series.

Ben came in shocked and surprised after his exciting victory over 3 other authors. He asked us questions about what we enjoyed from our books and answered at least 100 of our questions. It was really interesting to learn that he got his idea for his winning book from a Viking sword he saw whilst visiting a museum.

When he visited, he helped us to come up with some really good ideas for our own stories by asking us to start with a simple object- a pen. We came up with lots of ideas such as a story about a pen which makes the pictures you draw come to life!

After his talk, we could buy copies of Ben's books from his warrior heroes series and he autographed them.
