Trip to Butser Ancient Farm

All of the Year 3 classes have had an amazing time visiting Butser Ancient Farm to learn more about the Stone Age. We got to feed the animals, create chalk carvings, make bookmarks out of plaited plants and become archaeologists for the day. We loved it, despite the wind, rain and mud!

Year 3 Christmas Party

In the last week before Christmas, we had our first Junior School Christmas Party! We all got dressed up and went to the large hall to play lots of games and dance. We then went back to our classrooms to finish the party and have a little snack. Thank you to all the parents who sent in clothes and snacks!

Carol Service at the Church of the Resurrection

As is tradition, Year 3 played their part in the annual whole school Carol Service at the Church of the Resurrection just before Christmas. Some of us were in the choir but others participated in the tableau playing Mary, shepherds, kings and even the donkey. We sang a selection of the songs we have been learning in our singing assemblies every week and we really enjoyed this!

Advent Experience at Cosham Baptist Church

Year 3 had an amazing time visiting the Advent Experience at Cosham Baptist Church just before Christmas. We received a passport at the start of our journey and we traveled through different rooms to experience different parts of the Christmas story. Reverend Ford and all the volunteers helped us to have an awesome experience and we would like to thank them for all their hard work! Here are a few pictures even though it was dark inside!

Forest School

We have started going to Forest School and we love it! We have enjoyed exploring outside, roasting marshmallows and creating dens. This has linked to our Learning Challenge topic about The Stone Age and our Guided Reading book, Stig of the Dump.

British Values Pause week

We had a great time during Pause week thinking about the 5 British Values:

1. Democracy

2. The rule of Law

3. Tolerance of other religions

4. Mutual respect

5. Individual Liberty

We had visitors telling us about their jobs as Police Detectives, their different religions, their lives living with disabilities and what it is like to be a service family. We also learnt an African dance and learnt to play Boccia.

Here are some of our evaluations including the things we enjoyed most and will take away with us.

We had an amazing trip to Arundel Castle in October! We looked around all parts of the castle including the keep (up lots of steps!) and the beautiful gardens. This trip helped us to answer our Learning Challenge question: why is there a castle in Arundel?
